The latest extension of the Istanbul Atatürk Airport's New International Flights Terminal was completed in 2009. With this project the terminal bridges had reached to 26 and the fuel hydrant system hydrant pits reached to 52 at the International Terminal.
A new extension has been decided at the beginning of 2015 by adding 4 passenger boarding bridges to the terminal. New additional bridges has been designed in accordance with MARS parking arrangement.
In the scope of this extension project, installation of 750 m 14”, 728 m 6” jet fuel pipelines, installation of 16 civil aviation jet fuel hydrant pits, 2 high and low point pits with their interiors and required piping works in a new valve chamber will be completed and this new lines will be integrated into the existing airport hydrant system to serve jet fuel to new bridges.
With this extension project totally 30 aircrafts will be served by this system (60 hydrant pits) at the Atatürk International Terminal and the total number of fuel hydrant pits will reach to 94 (including Domestic Passenger Terminal) after the completion of this project.
