EÜAŞ Aliaga Power Plant Natural Gas Conversion and Construction Of Type-A Natural Gas Station

This thermal electric production plant has a capacity of 180MW. It was designed to use gas oil for electric production. To be able to operate the plant with natural gas as a dual firing system the following works were completed for conversion of the 4 gas turbines of EÜAŞ Aliağa Facility project.
- A branch was taken from take-off valve BOTAŞ natural gas pipeline and was carried into the Facility with 6” underground pipeline.
- A RMS-A type station (66.000Nm³/h) was erected and the pressure of the natural gas was decreased from 33-75bar to 18bar and natural gas was carried with 10”, 8”, 6” (610m underground and 90m aboveground) pipes to the 4 gas turbines. All the necessary connections and piping were done.
- All of the used valves with actuators are procured according with API 6D standards and Class 300 pressure category.- Pipeline was tested with nitrogen gas to assure the strength and sealing.
- Cathodic protection was installed for the underground pipes.
