Denizli Organized Industrial Zone Birlik Energy 37 MW Powerplant Construction

The diesel-generator groups of 37 MW cogeneration plant was purchased from MAN B&W-Germany by Birlik Energy. Civil, electrical and mechanical works have begun in 20th of December 2000 in Denizli Organized Industrial District and the tests have been performed in September 2001. The plant consisted of: - A power house for two 2 x 18.9 MW diesel-generator groups with a size of 39 x 27 meters made from steel, - One cooling tower, two radiator cooling units of 27 x 22m, one 30 x 14m concrete two floors transformer center, a tank farm for 2 x 2.000m³ fuel-oil storage tanks, 1 x 50m³ fuel oil unloading tank, 3 x 100m³ daily fuel oil tanks, 1 x 200m³ diesel-oil (diesel oil) storage tank and pipe ways and pipe racks. - The size of the tank farm is 100 x 50 meters. - One 26 x 8 meters pump house and two waste heat recovery boilers, - A desulfurization (DeSOx) unit with a concrete tower of 30 meters height with inside dimension of 6 x 5.5 meters which uses limestone to recover the sulfur from the exhaust gases of the diesel engines. - The tower’s inside is covered with a special plastic insulation material to protect the concrete tower from the corrosive exhaust gases. - A 21x8 meters vacuum unit and 12.5 x 12 meters limestone storage building. - The connections between separate units were done by pipe-ways and pipe-racks
